Passion is a driving force that spins into motion the energy required to bring our ideas to life. I started out as a closet writer but on in Mar. 2006; I could no longer bottle up what was brewing in me. I had to come out and share my excitement.
‘The War In The Sky’ written by Busola Elegbede: is a piece I have much to thank God for; it is proof that dreams can indeed come true if you push hard enough.
It started out as a poetic piece I wrote to capture a historical moment in the world, Nigeria was blessed enough to be one of the countries that show cased this heavenly wonder.
A dear friend of mine Rasheedah Fagbayi had a creative event show casing creativity and there and there I read out and performed my piece with two very talented actors. The cheers I got surprised me and people walked up to me to commend me for a very deep piece that touched their lives. They loved the suspense and intrigue I had entwined into the piece. I couldn’t stop smiling and looking up to the sky; thanking God for the moment. It was there I was encouraged to do more than share ‘The War In The Sky’ with a few people but to the entire world.
My play was published a year later in 2007 and has been performed several times by talented students actors and Onile Agbon Troup at The National Arts Theatre, Iganmu Lagos, The Nimbus Arts Centre Ikoyi, Lagos, The Nigerian Air Force Kofo Abayomi street V/I.
It is also the creative piece that put me on board The British council and The Royal Court Theatre team. There I have written two creative plays ‘Where her loyalty lies’ and ‘The Worms Under His Feet’.
In 2008 ‘The War In The Sky’ was nominated by LNG Nigeria for The Nigeria Prize for Literature.
In between writing plays and poems I have also written comic books which blow my mind away. It is the pictorial equivalent of addictive television series the world loves and the movie industry is seriously cashing into the comic book industry.
Listed are the comic book series I’ve written
Kaboom Comic book written by Busola Elegbede
Kinetic Comic book written Kenway Oforeh, Busola Elegbede, Hecklar
Half Comic book written by Busola Elegbede
Sunshine Avenue Comic book written by Busola Elegbede
I have since then written several plays which have kept me busy and by the special grace of God, my dream to once again stage ‘The War In The Sky’ has materialized.
On February 17th 2010 : in conjunction with The Creative Arts Department; University of Lagos . ‘The War In The Sky’ will be staged.
Attached to this write up are the required details.
Because we at Whirlwind Rush Company love and appreciate our customers, we are given out free copies of Half comic book to those who bought tickets; the first five hundred people that show up at this creative event. So spread the word and be punctual.
Thank you and keep blogging.
