TOPIC: The Script Writer & Mentor ship, Is It Necessary?
The Speaker started out with quoting a very interesting saying by
MARK TWAIN, 'Never let my school interfere with my education'
Expanding on this he added that Script writing is not only Writing, it is a Business.
It involves honing Your skills and pitching to the right or Target Client.
Skills like: Writing, Selling Benefits , Selling Your Script, Pitching, Getting Target Client to listen
And no dish is complete unless it has all the right Ingredients and Several Key Mentors ensure Your dish is gourmet. Ingredients like High Concept And Highly Sell-able Block Buster Scripts
To delve into the Speakers mind, I asked who his Mentors are and I got a very interesting answer. When President Goodluck Jonathan was Deputy Governor he had forged a relationship with him. This has grown and You can imagine when The First man needs a Screen Writer on a National Project who he will call. What I got from this is that one should form Relationships and that in turn is the Best way to Get top notch Mentors

Identify and Create Your Own ELEMENTS OF FILM
How do you create dimension in Your Screenplay?
Answer: It must have UNIVERSAL APPEAL
Define the GEograpical Origin
Know Your Target Audience
Inspire with emotions
Include Little spectacles to woo Target Audience
Have Social Relevance as a back drop
If you must inform only do it when relevant o the Screenplay

Improve Marketing Skills
Substance of Screenplay
Conform to Rules And Regulations
So we threw questions which most people in Nigeria believe is happening and have experienced
'Marketers and Actors Dictating Rules And Regulations'
The Terrain was different back in old Nollywood he said, now Marketers have been given ultimatums to sel off those old school fims with part 1-8. Dont sigh or disbelief, it was happening
Now Regulatory Bodies are in place and Working.
Nobert made it clear that the Investor/ Executive Producer is only interested in making money so Screen Writers should infuse the ingredients and elements that will lift Nigerian Screen Writers to International Acclaim
5. Victor Okhai
When you google Victor Okhai you will be amazed at how much he has accomplished, he is a force to recon with and definitely a keeper. His informal style is attractive and you just relax and absorb knowledge as he speaks.
Memorably Victor Okhai said 'If yo not know Syd Field, then you have not started SCREEN WRITING'
